Mengapa HRD perlu sekali melakukan coaching dan counselling bukan hanya mengelola tim saja? Karena langkah ini membantu HRD dan perusahaan dalam mengembangkan karyawan yang berpotensi dan meningkatkan performance kerja mereka yang berujung pada kinerja divisi juga perusahaan secara keseluruhan.

Coaching dan counselling merupakan kunci utama dalam meningkatkan engagement karyawan pada organisasi, apalagi bagi pekerja generasi millennial yang sangat potensil untuk dikembangkan dan dipicu untuk menghasilkan ide-ide kreatif yang menakjubkan jika kita dapat membantu mereka menggalinya dan memanfaatkan kelebihan mereka bagi pencapaian target perusahaan. Coaching dan counselling menjadi pendekatan yang efektif untuk mengembangkan sekaligus mengidentifikasi kebutuhan karyawan tersebut untuk lebih produktif.

Dari pengalaman penulis, beberapa kalangan HRD senior mengeluhkan betapa sulitnya mencari karyawan yang kreatif. Bahkan karyawan-karyawan yang baru di-recruit sepertinya hanya terbiasa berfikir dengan satu cara saja. Padahal manajemen menuntut, maunya mereka yang diharapkan berfikir kreatif, think outside the boxbreak the ruleschange the paradigm. Tetapi justru sebagian dari mereka hampir sama dengan generasi sebelumnya yang hanya berfikir dengan satu cara dan akibatnya ide-idenya, ya itu-itu saja. Belum lagi jika dihadapkan dengan kenyataan bahwa memang anak-anak Indonesia masih banyak yang cenderung kurang kreatif dibandingkan anak-anak lain. Ini hanya pendapat beberapa HRD senior. Di sisi lain, tidak sedikit perusahaan justru memenjarakan kreatifitas karyawan mereka, hanya karena tidak suka disaingi atau dengan atau tanpa alasan menolak adanya perubahan.

Namun disinilah pentingnya peranan coaching dan counselling dari HRD, untuk mendorong kreatifitas karyawan “yang terarah” karena pada kenyataannya perusahaan yang ingin maju sangat penting memiliki karyawan-karyawan yang memiliki:
– prestasi akademis yang bagus
– jiwa competitive yang keras
– kreatifitas yang tinggi

Beberapa strategi coaching dan counselling yang dapat dibagikan saat ini, cobalah ikuti langkah langkah di bawah ini:

a) Give them media or project to boost their creativity
Selain tugas rutin dan pekerjaan administratif, berikan proyek khusus yang merupakan bagian dari pencapaian target perusahaan. Berikan kesempatan dan tantangan bagi mereka untuk berkarya.

b) Create your own creative team and office
Doronglah tiap anggota tim untuk menunjukkan kreatifitas mereka secara berkala atau boleh saja ditentukan jadwalnya. Ini akan memicu mereka untuk terus berfikir dan menggali segala kemampuan mereka untuk berprestasi.

c) Let them to express their creativity
Beri ruang untuk mereka berekspresi. Tunjukkan perhatian dan penghargaan atas ide kreatitif mereka, sekalipun mungkin menurut kita agak menyimpang dari pola pikir kita selama ini, bukan style kita, bukan seperti yang kita inginkan, agak berbeda dengan tatanan yang ada – biarlah untuk sementara waktu dengan tetap memberikan arahan yang baik.

d) Give them balancing activity to enlarge their creativity
Jika dari hasil coaching dan counselling yang dilakukan, kita menemukan potensi khusus mereka di bidang lain seperti menyanyi, olahraga, melukis, memahat, merakit, dll. Berikan kesempatan untuk mereka berkreatitas dan jadikan hal ini sebagai salah satu program HRD bagi karyawannya.

e) Reward them for their effort
Jangan lupa memberikan apresiasi, hadiah, untuk usaha mereka, bukan hanya dalam hal performance kerja tetapi juga usaha mereka dalam hal olahraga, seni dan juga perilaku mereka yang positif.
